About this policy
Read Chinese Menu helps travelers understand Chinese menus, explore dishes and communicate dining needs. This policy describes information handled by the website and its related features, and distinguishes the consumer service from a planned Google Ads API integration.
Menu images, text and voice
When you request recognition, the selected menu image and language are sent for processing. Dish searches, selected menu text and questions are used to return explanations or translations. Avoid including faces, identity documents or unrelated personal information. Voice features can send audio or text to recognition, translation or speech services; browser speech features may also use network services. Camera and microphone access depends on your browser permissions.
Guest access, accounts and saved information
Guest identifiers and authentication tokens associate requests with usage and balances. Email sign-in uses CloudBase authentication. Account identifiers, email and purchase references support account access and entitlements. Browser storage can contain language preferences, menu history, saved dishes and Food Profile settings. Signing out or clearing browser data does not delete server-side account or payment records.
Optional Food Profile and meal needs
A Food Profile can include allergies, intolerances and dietary choices that may reveal health information or religious beliefs. Provide only information you want processed. Supported account features may synchronize profile information. Meal-specific preferences can affect planning; use and staff-sharing controls serve different purposes. Showing a staff card discloses its displayed contents to the people viewing it. These features cannot establish restaurant ingredient safety.
Purposes and choices
We process information to provide requested recognition, translation, account access, preferences, saved results and purchases; maintain balances; investigate failures; respond to requests; and protect against abuse. Optional profile and voice inputs can be omitted. Where applicable, processing may rely on providing a requested service, legitimate security interests, legal recordkeeping duties, or consent for optional sensitive information and tracking when required by law.
Providers and payments
CloudBase supplies authentication and Cloudflare Worker services process API requests and account-related records. Configured AI and speech providers process the inputs needed for requested features; supported AI paths include DeepSeek, Alibaba Cloud DashScope and Google Gemini. Active paths depend on deployment and feature. PayPal handles checkout; our records can include order, capture, purchase and refund references. Processing is not limited to your device, and providers may process information in other countries under their applicable policies.
Browser storage and analytics
Browser storage supports sessions, guest access, language, preferences and saved content. The application includes Google Analytics and Umami usage analytics. Depending on configuration these services process usage events, browser/device details, network identifiers and cookies. Browser settings can limit storage and cookies, which can affect sign-in and saved information. We do not promise that analytics is anonymous.
Google Ads API: current status
Google Ads API integration is not activated and has not been used. As of this policy update, no Google Ads account data has been retrieved through the API or sent to AI tools or third-party processing services. No AI automation platform or tool has been granted Google Ads account or OAuth access. Google API Explorer has not been used. Current advertising activity uses Google’s own interfaces, which are separate from this planned API integration and from consumer menu translation. Visitors do not need Google Ads authorization to use the menu service.
Planned advertising functions
The planned initial API capability is read-only advertising and keyword research or reporting. It is not a currently available query feature; API creation or modification of campaigns, bids or budgets is not active. Future AI automation is a plan, not an existing recipient of advertising data. Consumer use of Google Analytics or a configured Gemini processing path is distinct from Google Ads OAuth access.
Before activating Google Ads API processing
Before activation, the operator will review and document the necessary permissions, data categories, purposes, authorized recipients, credential and data storage, and retention/deletion controls, and update this policy with appropriate notice and authorization for the actual processing. No assertion is made here that Google Ads OAuth access or refresh tokens have been issued or stored. There is currently no fixed Ads API retention schedule or implemented automatic deletion policy. These statements do not change Google’s own storage or account controls. For questions or deletion enquiries, contact info@readchinesemenu.com.
Retention, security and international processing
Different records have different lifecycles. Local saved content remains until removed or cleared, subject to browser behavior. Account, transaction, task, operational and provider records may remain after local clearing. We retain information as needed for the requested service, support, security and applicable legal duties, and assess deletion requests against those purposes. We do not promise a fixed universal retention period or immediate deletion of backups or provider records. Processing locations depend on the services used. No online system can guarantee complete security.
Requests and updates
You may request access, correction, export or deletion, or raise an objection or withdraw optional consent, by emailing info@readchinesemenu.com. Rights depend on applicable law; identity checks and lawful payment/security recordkeeping can limit deletion. You may contact an applicable data protection authority. Policy changes are identified by the updated date; review changes before providing further optional information.
